Slayer

Slayer is the profession of hunting on commission. A Slayer Master gives you a contract —"hunt 30 wolves"— and you complete it by fighting wherever that creature shows up. Each creature in the contract gives you Slayer experience, and each completed contract, points to spend with the masters.

A Slayer contract is NOT a quest.

  • It does not show up in your journal or in your pinned quests: it has its own box on screen.
  • It is never handed in: it completes itself when the last creature falls, and pays on the spot, wherever you are.
  • Slayer Masters have no quest signs (no ! or ?) over their heads: they hand out contracts, not quests.

What a contract is

  • A contract asks you to hunt one specific creature a number of times. Any expedition where it shows up counts: adventures, dungeons and group runs.
  • You have one contract at a time. When the last one falls it pays out by itself, and you go back to any master who accepts you to get the next one.
  • Whatever falls after the last one does not count for anything: the rest of the run is a normal fight.
  • The loot from what you kill is the usual: the contract does not change what creatures drop.

Getting started

The first master is Brann the Tracker, in Aurelia, near Mara, ranger. This master gives you work from level 1, with no Slayer at all. Talk to them (double click or E) and press "Get a contract".

  • The master's window tells you what to hunt and in which expeditions that creature shows up, with a button to follow the path there.
  • From there you also see your points, your streak and the rewards you can buy.

The five masters

Each master lives at a different corner of the world, near what they send you to hunt. The higher ones ask for more level and more Slayer, but pay more points per contract.

What each master asks for

A master only asks for creatures from expeditions you can already do by level. The amount comes from how many fall per run in the best expedition that has them: every contract from the same master takes about as long.

Brann the Tracker

With "Boss contracts" bought, 20 % of the time you get an adventure boss: 2 to 4. Brann the Tracker's bosses: Ent, Bandit Chief, Hooded Foreman

Mirka Blackclaw

With "Boss contracts" bought, 20 % of the time you get an adventure boss: 2 to 4. Mirka Blackclaw's bosses: Hooded Foreman, Forest Giant, Jungle Ent, Feathered Sand Serpent, Dark Knight of the Mine

Osric the Gravewarden

With "Boss contracts" bought, 20 % of the time you get an adventure boss: 2 to 4. Osric the Gravewarden's bosses: Feathered Sand Serpent, Eclipse Sphinx, Ghost Reaper, Spectral Captain

Nerea Bittersalt

With "Boss contracts" bought, 20 % of the time you get an adventure boss: 2 to 4. Nerea Bittersalt's bosses: Kraken, Hall Knight, Spectral Captain, Orc Warlord

Halvar the Fearless

With "Boss contracts" bought, 20 % of the time you get an adventure boss: 2 to 4. Halvar the Fearless's bosses: Kraken, Hall Knight, Festive Yeti, Devil, Vampire King, Orc Warlord

Experience

  • Each contract creature that dies gives you Slayer experience, by time, like every profession: it is worth the minutes the expedition spends on that creature, and it pays more the higher your level.
  • When you close the contract you get 25 % more of what the whole contract was worth.
  • The expedition's combat experience is separate: you get it as always.

Points and streak

  • Each completed contract gives you Slayer points. How many depends on the master who gave it (table above).
  • The streak counts contracts completed in a row. Every 10: ×5 · Every 50: ×15
  • Abandoning a contract is free and can be done from anywhere, but the streak goes back to zero. Changing it costs points and the streak stays.
  • Points belong to each character: they cannot be sold, traded or turned into gold.

Rewards

Points are spent with any master, in their Rewards tab:

RewardPointsWhat it does
Change contract30 · Each timeThe master gives you another creature and your streak stays intact. Never the same one again.
Block a creature100 · Each timeNo master will ask for your current contract's creature again, and the contract is swapped for another. Up to 4 blocks; removing one is free.
Favorite creature150 · Bought oncePick your current contract's creature as favorite and the masters ask for it 4 times as often.
Boss contracts250 · Bought onceSometimes the master asks you to hunt an adventure boss: just a few, and they pay like a full contract.

No reward gives gold or items to sell: they let you choose what to hunt and save time, they do not make you money.

Slayer Cape: once Slayer reaches level 100, Grenda, veteran gives it to you through the quest Mastery: Slayer. Only masters wear it: it cannot be traded, sold or salvaged.

Tips

  • Get the contract before heading out: that way every creature in the run already counts.
  • If the creature shows up in several expeditions, the master's window tells you how many each one has: pick the one with the most.
  • Block the creatures you do not enjoy hunting and pick as favorite the one that suits you best: with both, almost all your contracts will be for what works for you.
  • Mind the streak: abandoning halfway breaks it, changing with points does not.
